Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch

PhotobucketYou know that I love you . . .

Yippie! There's a Pie Party going on over at JoJo's Joys.
Cheryl (aka Jojo) is a pie-beats-cake kind of gal and she's throwing
a Pie Party in recognition of National Pie Day on January 23.

I'm a pie lover myself, so I'm bringing one of my
favorite pies to the party.

Walnut Pie is just like pecan pie,
only 10 times more flavorful (or so say my taste buds).

4 Tablespoons melted oleo or butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 beaten eggs
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
unbaked 9" pastry shell

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Combine butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well.
Add eggs. Mix again.
Stir in evaporated milk, vanilla, and nuts.

Sometimes I press some finely chopped nuts
into the bottom of the pastry shell. -------->

Pour the mixture into the pastry shell.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes
or till the center is set to the touch.
PhotobucketGoes well with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of coffee.
Drop by for a slice.

We'll listen to The Four Tops -
and if you're old enough to remember the late 60s, we can reminisce.

I can't help myself.
I love you and nobody else.

  1. I will DEFINITELY join in on the National Pie Day thing!!! I LOVE pie...all kinds of pie. I'm kind of like that Bubba guy in "Forrest Gump": blueberry pie, apple pie, cherry pie, pecan pie...! I have some nice, fat blueberries in the freezer from over the summer, so I think I'll do blueberry. Mmmmmm...I can taste it already! Have a great weekend, and thanks for the inspiration! Boo for the calories, though! ;-)

  2. I've never heard of using walnuts before, sounds great:@)

  3. I'd love a piece! Sounds delicious!
